Capras Indigenous Engagement Program

Cultural Connection Through the Capras Health & Wellbeing Schools Program

Based on the Capras Health & Wellbeing Schools Program and the 6 Capras Way modules, we have endeavoured to address the issues that young first nation people face.

Integrating Culture into Education

Through the connection to culture, we have created a program that links the issues of Community, Attitude, Purpose, Responsibility, Awareness and Success to necessary teachings of young indigenous people including learning local Darumbal Language, traditional dance and customs as well as history of artifacts and specified flora and fauna of the traditional custodians of the land.

Collaborating with Indigenous Leaders and

Local Businesses

To make this program identifiable with persons of indigenous culture we have met with leaders and role models heavily involved in this space. As well as workshopping with Indigenous players throughout the football club about all issues, The Capras CommunityCare team have met with businesses in the Central Queensland Region who are dedicated to creating more employment and mentoring opportunities to young people and have explored the possibilities of coming in to speak to young indigenous students about their specific industries and conduct on sight tours to develop a clear pathway into the career choice they are passionate about.
